Personal Experience

I have been worked in the social care field for 27 years and I started off in residential settings for adolescents, young children and mother and baby units.

In 1997 I moved to the USA and worked in a therapeutic capacity in a wilderness and boot camp custodial setting with adolescents.  The aim of the camp was to remove young people from their troubled environment and work with them utilising traditional Native American principals.

In 2004 I gained my MA in mental health counselling specialising in marriage and Family. I managed the family services for the Seminole Tribe of Florida delivering individual, couple and family counselling to children and adults. I have managed a myriad of therapeutic settings delivering front line services to adults, children, families and groups.

In 2006 I moved back to the UK and became a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapist (BACP).

Since I moved back to the UK I have delivered counselling to adults, children, couples and families.

In 2013 I started work for a fostering and adoption agency and I set up a therapeutic service for adopted and fostered children and families.
